The tribunal is headed by a President. The administrative arm of the Commission is overseen by the General Manager. It is organised into 6 branches. Each branch is responsible for a different area of our operations.

The President of the Fair Work Commission is responsible for overseeing the work of the tribunal and its Members.
The President is Justice Adam Hatcher.

General Manager
The General Manager is a statutory appointee who assists the President of the Fair Work Commission and oversees the administration of Commission staff. He is assisted by an Executive team.

Dispute Resolution and Support Services Branch
The Dispute Resolution and Support Services Branch is responsible for:
- managing our public counters, application processing and file preparation
- filing fees and refunds for unfair dismissal, general protections, bullying and some sexual harassment cases
- general enquiries
- processing and conciliation of dismissal applications
- processing and conciliation of bullying applications, and
- case management of bargaining-related applications.

Labour Standards Support Branch
The Labour Standards Support Branch is responsible for:
- providing project and case management support for our functions relating to modern awards, minimum wages, equal remuneration, minimum standards orders and road transport contractual chain orders, and
- providing specialist research about those functions to support Expert Panels, Full Benches and other Commission processes. Specialist research includes both internal and externally published workplace relations and economic research and analysis.

Tribunal Support Branch
The Tribunal Support Branch is responsible for:
- providing administrative support to the Members of the Commission
- performing analysis of enterprise agreements
- providing triage and support for bargaining related matters, and
- providing support for our Collaborative Approaches Program.

Registered Organisations Services Branch
The Registered Organisations Services Branch is responsible for:
- managing registration of organisations
- rules of registered organisations
- right of entry permits
- ensuring that organisations meet their obligations for financial reporting and other lodgments
- arranging for elections for organisations, in conjunction with the Australian Electoral Commission
- investigating disclosures about registered organisations, their branches, officers and employees, and
- providing education, assistance and advice to ensure compliance.

Legal, Performance and Engagement Branch
The Legal, Performance and Engagement Branch is responsible for:
- media, communications and stakeholder engagement
- legal services, and
- performance and reporting.

Enabling Services Branch
The Enabling Services Branch is responsible for:
- governance reporting
- information and communications technology, including maintaining our internal case management system
- human resources
- financial management, resources and payroll
- specialist workplace relations library, and
- recordkeeping obligations.

Reporting and handling of breaches of the APS Code of Conduct
These procedures inform Australian Public Service employees working at the Commission of their obligations to act in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct as provided in section 13 of the Public Service Act 1999, and give guidance to the Commission on how to respond to suspected breaches of the Code of Conduct.
