We are changing modern awards because of changes to casual employment laws.
The Fair Work Amendment (Closing Loopholes No.2) Act 2024 makes several changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 about casual employment. These changes include to:
- the definition of a casual employee
- the pathway to full-time or part-time employment
- the procedures to resolve disputes about changes to casual employment.
The changes start on 26 August 2024.
We have started this case to consider changes to modern awards as result of the changes to the Fair Work Act 2009.
Provisional views are set out in a Statement issued 19 July 2024 ([2024] FWCFB 312).
Interested parties can make a submission in response to these provisional views by 12pm (AEST) on Monday, 29 July 2024.
