Acting President Hatcher today announced the Fair Work Commission's plans for the new expert panels for gender pay equity and the care and community sector.
Under recent amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009, an expert panel will be required when we are considering changes to modern awards which relate to gender pay equity or the care and community sector, and when deciding whether to make an equal remuneration order.
Deputy President O’Neill will be the National Practice Leader. The Deputy President will have oversight of the operation of the expert panel system.
The President's statement sets out an overview of the changes and how we will implement them, including information about a research project on occupational segregation and gender undervaluation.
